Babar is an elephant character created in 1931 by French author and illustrator Jean de Brunhoff. The story begins with a young elephant whose mother is killed by a hunter; he flees to the city, where he discovers human civilization. Upon returning to the jungle, Babar becomes king of the elephants and modernizes their society. The series, later continued by the author’s son Laurent de Brunhoff, achieved international success. It combines adventure, education, and humanist values through elegant illustrations.
